The Two Rivers YMCA is currently looking for a team player to fill the position of Seasonal Summer Part-time Driver , our Child Nutrition Services Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely delivery of meals and snacks to after school and camp sites on specific routes, packing/reviewing orders prior to delivery, and providing exceptional customer service to program staff. Location: Rock Island YMCA, 2715 30th Street, Rock Island, IL 61201

Weekly Hours Available: Up to 30 per week

Hours: Monday - Friday: Summer hours ~ 8 am - 2 pm

$15/hour + Mileage
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a valid Driver's License, car insurance and personal, reliable vehicle for each shift. They also must have an acceptable driving record and will need to consent to providing the Y with a Motor Vehicle Report. Drivers will be paid mileage in addition to regular wages.

Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Nourish Director the general function of this position is to assist in prep and delivering meals for the Nourish program. They will possess full knowledge of Y philosophy, workings of program locations and groups, and understand character development as the chief mission of the Y and personally exhibit a commitment to this in all Y operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Deliver food to different addresses and through different routes.
  • Assist in prep and packing of meals.
  • Follow routes and time schedule.
  • Load and unload personal vehicle for deliveries.
  • Collect necessary paperwork and signatures from food sites.
  • Follow DOT regulations and safety standards.
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and program staff.
  • Keep all program areas safe and clean.
  • Arrive on time with your nametag, proper attire, Y staff shirt, and a positive attitude.
  • Maintain a professional image of the Y in the facility and the community.
  • Use the time clock system to log your work hours, notify supervisor right away in writing of any errors or missed punches.
  • Work as a team with other Y staff members.
  • May be required to change routes or travel from site to site on occasion.
  • Will be required to track mileage and turn reports in as directed and on time.

  • Staff, members, participants, and the community will be constantly aware of Nutritional programs offered through the Two Rivers YMCA.
  • All nutritional activities will maintain a high level of quality and professionalism.

Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma is preferred.


Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.


Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform simple math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CPR/AED/First Aid for infant, child and adult, Blood borne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention, and if driving for the YMCA a valid Driver’s License and valid Car Insurance. Food Sanitation Certification but be obtained within 90 days. Other trainings as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel and crouch.The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
