About This Position
This position is responsible for overseeing daily production activities, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, and leading a team to meet production goals. This role involves coordinating workflows, managing resources, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency. The Senior Production Supervisor will serve as a backup to the Production Manager during times of unavailability.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:- Production Oversight: Manage daily manufacturing operations to ensure production targets are met efficiently and safely, under the direction of the Production Manager.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and motivate the 1stshift team, providing direct supervision, training, performance evaluations, and resolving any personnel issues. Escalate issues to the correct member of management.
- Monitor timekeeping to ensure employees’ timecards are accurate.
- Return all documents and respond to requests and emails from management in a timely manner and by the deadlines set forth.
- Communicates regularly with their team to ensure proper information is documented.
- Sets the example for all employees
- Serves as a team leader for all other Production Supervisors and shift leads to ensure consistency in supervision across all shifts.
- Scheduling & Planning: Assists the Production Manager in developing and implementing production schedules, adjusting as necessary to meet customer demands and address any delays.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce adherence to safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment for all team members under the direction and guidance of the Safety manager.
- Equipment Management: Coordinate maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime.
- Inventory Control: Maintain accurate inventory levels and coordinate with supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and lead initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
- Directly supervises anywhere from 1-25 employees within the production department.
- Indirectly serves as senior shift lead to ensure consistency and high standards of supervision.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Under the direction and guidance of HR, responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; identifying and developing personnel for positions of greater responsibility.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with 2 years in a supervisory position.
- Computer skills required:
- Microsoft Office 365 including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
- Other skills required:
- Strong supervisory, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Understanding of quality control standards and safety regulations.
- Ability to analyze production metrics and generate reports.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate across all levels of the organization.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in production management software and ERP systems
- Experience with ADP for Timekeeping
- Experience in reporting on key production metrics
- Experience with plastics extrusion in a manufacturing environment

This position will be located in a production shop floor environment and may be required to work 1st, 2nd, 3rd or other designated shift hours. Overtime may also be required based on business conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is moderate with occasional loud noise. Frequently required to talk, hear, walk, sit, and stand. Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl. Continually works near moving mechanical parts and may occasionally be exposed to fumes, airborne particles or toxic chemicals. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

This position is responsible for first shift, hours of 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, but should be prepared to work at least 30 minutes prior and after the start/end of shift to tie in with 3rd and 2nd shifts.
