Schedule: Mondays and Tuesdays, 6:00 AM–10:00 AM, with the opportunity to increase up to 20 hours per week as the season progresses.

Position Type: Seasonal (May through September)

About the Position:

As a Seasonal Farm Worker at Pilgrim's Market, you will work alongside our Farm Team Lead and Farm Manager to grow, harvest, and maintain a variety of organic vegetables, fruits, and herbs at our farm using organic practices. You will be an integral part of the farm-to-market process, assisting with packaging, labeling, and selling our fresh produce directly to customers. This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in organic farming while contributing to our mission of promoting healthy, sustainable, and locally grown food.

Key Responsibilities:

• Farm Operations:
• Assist in planting, cultivating, and harvesting organic vegetables, fruits, and herbs by hand during the North Idaho growing season (typically May through September).
• Ensure that crops are maintained in accordance with organic farming standards and practices.
• Packaging and Labeling:
• Help with washing, packaging, and labeling produce for sale at Pilgrim's Market.
• Ensure all produce is properly stored and ready for sale.
• Sales and Customer Interaction:
• Engage with customers, providing information about the farm, produce, and organic farming practices.
• Educational Support:
• Participate in farm-related educational events and activities.
• Help with demonstrations and discussions related to organic farming and food production.
• Additional Farm Duties:
• Complete various tasks as directed by the Farm Team Lead or Farm Manager.
• Help maintain a clean and organized work environment on the farm.

Essential Requirements:

• Agricultural Knowledge:
• Some experience with plant identification, gardening, or agriculture is preferred.
• Availability:
• Flexible availability from May through September to accommodate the growing season.
• Work Ethic and Adaptability:
• Strong work ethic, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to adapt to and thrive in a fast-paced farm environment.
• Learning Attitude:
• Willingness to ask questions, learn about agriculture, and grow in your understanding of organic farming practices.
• Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
• Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors for extended periods of time, including in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, etc.).
• Organizational Skills:
• Some organizational skills, including basic knowledge of Excel for tracking purposes.
• Equipment Operation:
• Ability to operate basic farm equipment safely (e.g., knives, juicer, pallet jack, baler, box cutter, utility cart).
