About the Role

The Applications Engineer (AE) will play a key role helping customers implement solutions to most effectively utilize our EUV reflectometry and scatterometry tools and analysis software. We are seeking a self-driven individual with a broad knowledge base and a willingness to self-study necessary material to fill in any gaps. Key areas of expertise would be reflection/scattering simulation, inverse problems/regression analysis, and EUV lithography. An ideal candidate will be able to identify and implement solutions to customers’ critical metrology needs using EUV Tech hardware and software.

Responsibilities include defining production measurement and analysis recipes, leading customer projects, tracking progress, and training customers in how to implement production solutions with EUV Tech hardware and software tools. The role will also interface between customers and EUV Tech R&D to identify and track improvements to EUV Tech products based on customer needs. This position requires an individual with strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with highly technical peers, and the capability to manage workload among changing priorities in a dynamic startup environment.

Reporting Line

This position reports to the Senior Research Scientist

Your Role
  • Deep Knowledge and Analysis:
    • Develop deep knowledge of EUV Tech’s platforms for reflectometry and scatterometry including overall understanding of tool hardware, creation of production recipes, calibration, running measurements, and troubleshooting issues.
    • Develop deep knowledge of EUV Tech’s software tools for reflectometry and scatterometry data analysis using physical modeling and numerical inverse problems, including model parameterization, measurement selection, and hyperparameter tuning.
    • Data analysis.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Serve as the main technical resource for Field and internal engineering teams, helping others solve complex problems and providing training on specific product families. Instruct and train FSEs, agents and customers on the operation and maintenance of products.
  • Technical Documentation: Contribute to and maintain technical documentation, manuals, and troubleshooting guides for the product family. Ensure that knowledge is shared with the regional engineers and is up-to-date.
  • Customer Relations:
    • Handle escalations from the field service engineers when more technical expertise is required.
    • Manage customer expectations and requests. Determine specifications of new features and analyze customer requirements to evaluate feasibility.
    • Serve as an interface between customers and R&D and other EUV Tech teams to understand customer technical and business needs for our metrology solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Work closely with R&D, Manufacturing, and Product Development teams to offer feedback for future product improvements based on field experience and customer requests.
  • Build, Qualify and Installation:
    • Support manufacturing in building and qualifying new tools.
    • Lead on-site installation and qualification of new tools in the field.
  • Cleanroom: Work in a cleanroom and follow all customer protocols.
  • Teamwork: Work in a supportive, team-oriented environment.
  • Travel: Occasional travel, possibly on short notice, to customer sites to resolve problems.
Qualifications (Required)
  • Master’s Degree in science or engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (excel, powerpoint), Google products, or related software
  • Experience with scientific programming (Matlab and/or python preferred)
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal and presentation) skills
  • Advanced problem-solving orientation and decision-making skills
  • Excellent documentation skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
Qualifications (Bonus to Have)
  • Familiarity with physics, optics, and/or scattering
  • Familiarity with numerical modeling and/or inverse problems
  • Semiconductor capital equipment experience
Position Details

The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $135,000-$160,000 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and EUV Tech's location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the respective role. Within the range, individual pay is determined by the following factors: job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
