About This Position
Job Summary:
Earthworks is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our Finance and Accounting team. This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager and plays a key role in supporting the company’s financial operations.
The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with accounts receivable and accounts payable, supporting the preparation of financial statements, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the accounting function. Key responsibilities include processing financial transactions, reconciling accounts, and assisting with month-end close procedures.
This role requires proficiency in accounting software and enterprise systems; experience with Aspire and Acumatica is preferred. The ideal candidate will also contribute to strengthening accounting processes and internal controls while supporting the continued growth of the organization.
This position is based in our Lillian location.

Essential Duties:
- Process and support accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures
- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring timely and accurate recording of financial transactions
- Complete monthly account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Assist with month-end close procedures, including general ledger analysis and preparation of financial statements
- Maintain fixed asset records and process monthly depreciation entries
- Maintain accurate accrual and prepaid expense schedules, ensuring proper recognition in the appropriate accounting periods
- Maintain organized and complete documentation for all accounting transactions in accordance with company standards
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and U.S. GAAP
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems
- Experience with ERP systems; Aspire and Acumatica experience preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, growing organization
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience required (public or private industry experience acceptable)
- Experience in construction, landscaping, or service-based industries preferred
- Experience with ERP systems required; Aspire and Acumatica experience preferred
