Medical Assistant Trainer (CMA)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Trainer to support the development and training of Medical Assistants and clinical staff. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining the Medical Assistant training program while providing hands-on instruction in both clinical and administrative functions.
The MA Trainer will mentor staff, evaluate competency, support onboarding of new employees, and ensure training practices comply with clinic policies and healthcare regulatory standards. This is a working Medical Assistant position, and the trainer may provide clinical coverage as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Training & Program Development
- Develop, maintain, and evaluate the Medical Assistant training program.
- Provide instruction and training to Medical Assistants and clinic staff in both clinical and administrative duties.
- Assist with orientation and onboarding of newly hired Medical Assistants.
- Evaluate staff competency and provide feedback, mentorship, and coaching to support clinical skill development.
- Assist with the development and updating of training materials, procedures, and competency checklists.
Clinical Skills Training
- Train staff on clinical skills including:
- Vital signs
- Injections
- Phlebotomy
- EKG procedures
- Specimen collection
- Accurate patient documentation
Administrative Training
- Train staff on administrative tasks including:
- Patient scheduling
- Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation
- Medical record management
- Clinic workflow processes
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure all training follows OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and clinic regulatory standards.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and effective clinical learning environment.
- Review and assist with updates to clinic policies and procedures related to Medical Assistant practices and workflows.
Clinical Support
- Provide Medical Assistant coverage and assist with patient care duties as needed.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
Certification
- Active Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required
Experience
3–5 years of clinical Medical Assistant experience
- Previous training, mentoring, or leadership experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of clinical procedures and EHR systems
Skills
- Strong communication and teaching skills
- Ability to mentor and coach clinical staff
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations (HIPAA, OSHA, infection control)
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a clinical environment
