WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Grounds Maintenance Technician supports the facility maintenance team in maintaining and enhancing our 700+ acre campus. This role involves a wide range of landscaping, groundskeeping, and general maintenance duties to ensure the facility remains safe, functional, and presentable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine landscaping and grounds maintenance (mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, weed control)
• Plant, water, and maintain grass, flowers, shrubs, and trees seasonally
• Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides in accordance with safety protocols
• Clean and maintain outdoor areas including walkways, parking lots, and driveways
• Remove snow and ice using shovels, snow blowers, and salt application as needed
• Repair and maintain fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings
• Assist with light construction projects such as retaining walls, pathways, and landscape features
• Support maintenance of roads, sidewalks, buildings, and equipment as needed
• Assist with cleaning and maintaining gun ranges in accordance with strict safety procedures
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of equipment and storage areas
• Operate utility vehicles and light equipment safely
• Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and environmental handling procedures
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure efficient workflow

This position supports a government-related program and requires:

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security Clearance
• Successful completion of:
  • Background check
  • Credit check
  • Drug screening (federal contractor standards apply, including marijuana)

Employment is conditional upon clearance eligibility and successful screening results.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• This is a full-time, non-exempt, on-site position.
• The work schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 9:30AM-6PM

WORK CONDITIONS

This is a hands-on, physically demanding role that involves performing manual labor outdoors in all weather conditions, including sun, heat, rain, snow, and cold. The work requires frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying heavy objects, as well as operating landscaping and maintenance equipment such as lawn mowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, snow blowers, and utility vehicles. Employees may be exposed to dust, pollen, fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and other chemicals and must follow proper safety protocols at all times. Tasks may also involve working in areas where lead is present, such as gun ranges, requiring strict adherence to safety and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines. The role may require repetitive motion, climbing ladders or steps, and navigating uneven terrain. Employees must be able to work independently or as part of a team for extended periods in a fast-paced outdoor environment.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

Required:

• Experience with mowing, weed eating, trimming, and basic landscaping.
• Familiarity with cleaning and maintaining outdoor recreational areas, such as gun ranges, sports fields, or park facilities.
• Ability to operate vehicles such as utility carts, trucks, or small tractors safely.
• Basic knowledge of safety protocols for outdoor equipment and chemicals.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Must be 18+ years of age.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to pass a background check, credit check, and drug screening.

Preferred:

• Knowledge of proper use and application of fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides.
• Previous experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or horticulture.
• Experience with light construction, fencing, or basic repair work.
