Facilitates the recruitment, evaluation, and selection of all students seeking entrance to a school or college of the University. Initiates new programs and procedures; represents the school/college internally and externally.
Essential Functions
This position is an essential role within the operations team of the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid. With over 70,000 undergraduate applications received each year, this position has a responsibility to evaluate a high volume of applications to determine eligibility for admission. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for the hiring, training, and direct supervision of 20-25 seasonal application readers.
Further responsibility includes the oversight of first-year Guaranteed Admission Programs for select University graduate and professional programs. Ability to communicate effectively with University partners to identify high achieving first-year applicants to such programs is essential.
Leadership skills, decision-making ability, problem solving skills and ability to communicate effectively are critical to this role. The incumbent will be responsible for leading training sessions for the seasonal application readers and other staff members. Public speaking and/or previous training experience is highly preferred. Previous experience in application evaluation and supervision of employees is required.
Physical Effort
Most work is sedentary, completed within an office setting. Mobility with regard to possible travel within the United States. May be required to carry a box of materials (up to 50 lbs.) from car and/or from building to building or between floors.
