We are seeking a Junior Systems Modeling Engineer to support the U.S. Navy at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), part of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). NSWCDD serves as the Navy’s leading organization for researching, developing, testing, systems engineering, and integrating advanced naval warfare systems. Its mission is to deliver innovative and effective combat capabilities for the Navy, Joint Forces, and the Nation, with a focus on emerging technologies such as directed energy, digital engineering, and advanced combat systems.

Position Description:

This position supports a combat systems engineering–focused contract and is part of a seven-person Systems Modeling team within a larger group of approximately 100 contractors.

Work Location and Telework:

The primary work location is Dahlgren, Virginia. Candidates may be required to work on-site or near the base up to five days per week, depending on customer needs. Limited telework or work from a contractor location may be available with government approval.

Responsibilities and Duties:

The Junior Systems Modeling Engineer will support Combat Systems Engineering activities in accordance with the Defense Acquisition Guide, providing systems engineering support across the full life cycle of naval warfare systems. Responsibilities include supporting the NSWCDD V Department with advanced ship and combat system integration engineering across a wide range of platforms and programs, including:

  • AEGIS modernization and in-service combat systems
  • DDG-1000 mission systems
  • Ship Self-Defense System (SSDS)
  • Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV), and Frigate combat systems
  • Operations and force analysis
  • AEGIS Combat Direction System and Ballistic Missile Defense systems
  • LBTTS planning and activation
  • System analysis and enterprise systems engineering
  • Modeling and simulation
  • Combat system virtualization for the U.S. Marine Corps
  • Foreign Military Sales (FMS)
  • Future surface Navy combat systems

You will develop and deliver Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) products to support system definition, design, integration, and certification.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, science, or a technical discipline, or four years of demonstrated technical experience relevant to the role
  • Four years of experience developing and delivering MBSE artifacts to support SysML and UML models for CONOPS, requirements, architecture, and simulation
  • Experience using MBSE toolchains and modeling tools such as Cameo, MagicDraw, Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody, or equivalent
  • Experience creating system and subsystem architecture views, including functional, physical, power, safety, and cybersecurity

Preferred Qualifications/Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • Prior experience supporting NSWC Dahlgren or NSWC Crane

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel is not expected but could include occasional trips to Navy fleet-centric locations

The pay range for this role is:
85,000 - 110,000 USD per year(United States)
