About This Position
The Supreme Court of Nevada is seeking an IT Security Analyst to support the Information Security Officer (ISO) in protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the Court’s information systems. This position plays a key role in implementing technical security controls, maintaining regulatory compliance, and conducting routine security assessments to safeguard sensitive judicial information. The IT Security Analyst works collaboratively with IT staff, vendors, and court stakeholders to operationalize and support the Court’s information security strategy. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the protection of critical judicial systems and information while supporting the mission of Nevada’s highest court. The IT Security Analyst plays a meaningful role in ensuring public trust through strong information security practices.
This position can be located in Carson City or Las Vegas. After an initial training period, there may be an opportunity for a hybrid remote/in-office schedule.
Key ResponsibilitiesSecurity Operations and Compliance
- Implement, monitor, and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and endpoint protection tools.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local information security standards, regulations, and internal policies.
- Conduct regular security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability scans; identify risks and recommend remediation strategies.
- Support ISO-led audits, risk assessments, and compliance documentation and reporting efforts.
Incident Response and Monitoring
- Assist with the detection, investigation, containment, and recovery of information security incidents.
- Collect, review, and analyze security logs and alerts to identify potential threats or vulnerabilities.
- Prepare documentation and incident reports for ISO review and follow-up.
Collaboration and Support
- Work under the direction of the ISO to implement information security policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Collaborate with IT staff to ensure secure system configurations, patch management, and access control enforcement.
- Assist with third-party security assessments and vendor compliance reviews.
Training and Awareness
- Support the development and delivery of information security awareness training for court staff.
- Promote a culture of security awareness and shared responsibility across the judiciary.
Qualifications:
- 2–4 years of experience in information security, network administration, or related IT role.
- Strong understanding of information security principles, practices, and frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
- Experience with network and system security tools (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection).
- Familiarity with vulnerability assessment tools and security monitoring solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- High ethical standards, attention to detail, and commitment to confidentiality.
If this position is approved for remote or hybrid work, the incumbent must be able to work effectively and collaborate with employees from a remote location, as needed. The individual must have expertise in virtual meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams and be able to perform all duties through a reliable internet connection provided by the employee. The network connection must be sufficient to support all job functions, with a minimum download speed of 50–100 Mbps required. Higher speeds may be necessary if the connection is shared with other members of the household.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certifications such as Security+, CEH, SSCP, or equivalent.
- Prior experience in government, legal, or judicial environments.
- Familiarity with compliance requirements relevant to public sector information security
