The mission of the Retail Construction Intern at Cozey

The Retail Construction Intern will support Cozey's Retail Construction Project Manager in managing store build-out projects across Canada. Working from the owner's perspective, the intern will assist with project trackers, documentation, and reporting-helping coordinate schedules, budgets, and deliverables with consultants, contractors, and internal teams. As the internship progresses, the role offers valuable exposure to reading and interpreting construction documentation, understanding the full project lifecycle, and learning how owners oversee retail construction projects from concept to store opening. This opportunity is ideal for a highly analytical, growth-oriented student currently pursuing studies in Architecture, Engineering, or Interior Design.

What you'll be doing

• Support the Retail Construction Project Manager (Owner's Rep) by updating project trackers for schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Organize construction documentation, including drawings, permits, and contracts.
• Assist in preparing meeting notes, reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Gain exposure to reading construction drawings and understanding project workflows as the internship progresses.
• Help monitor project milestones and flag any updates or risks for review by the Project Manager.
• Conduct basic research to support project decisions (e.g., material options, vendor comparisons).

What we're looking for

• You are currently pursuing a degree or diploma in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
• You demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to manage documentation such as drawings, permits, and contracts.
• You are comfortable using Excel or Google Sheets to update project trackers for schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• You are comfortable using AutoCAD to review drawings or update as required.
• You show curiosity for construction workflows and a willingness to learn how to read and interpret construction drawings.
• You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and you can prepare clear meeting notes and reports.
• You are detail-oriented and proactive, able to monitor project milestones and flag potential risks or delays.
• You are collaborative, eager to support a Project Manager, and recognized for your ability to contribute positively to a team environment.
