The candidate will provide support in the test and integration of thermal, electronic, and electromechanical systems and subsystems in response to task requirements. Occasional overnight travel within the continental U.S. may be required. Shift work, extended shifts and weekend work may be required to meet project requirements.

Job Requirements:

  • This position requires a minimum of twenty-five [25] years of experience in the test and integration of space flight hardware.
  • This position requires substantial previous experience with and ability to attain NASA certifications in handling ESD sensitive parts, critical crane lift operations, mobile work platform operation, and contamination control procedures.
  • This position requires the ability to speak, read, and write in English, including knowledge of engineering terms, the ability to read engineering drawings, and the ability to following written procedures, as well as oral direction.
  • Current certification for J-STD-001 with space addendum, Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies required.
  • Current certification for NASA Standard 8739.4, Wire Crimp, Cable and Harness, Operator/Inspector required.
  • Current certification for Current certification for NASA Standard 8739.1, Staking & Conformal Coating, Operator/Inspector required.
  • Current certification for NASA Standard 8739.7 and ANSI S20.20, ESD Training required.
  • Good oral and written communications skills, and ability to work in a team environment are required.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Previous NASA GSFC experience is highly desirable.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status (Green card holder) required.

Work environment and physical demands:

Periodic work requiring extended periods (2-4 hours) of walking and standing in lab, clean room and integration and test environments

Periodic work in a clean room suit including head cover, face mask, gloves booties (full “bunny suit”)

Periodic shift work working as part of a team to provide support during critical test phases.
