POSITION SUMMARY:

As a member of the Feather River Tribal Health (FRTH) healthcare team, the Family Physician provides comprehensive primary care services for individuals and families across the lifespan, from pediatrics to geriatrics, in accordance with FRTH protocols and the highest clinical standards. The Family Physician delivers patient centered, culturally sensitive care that addresses acute, chronic, and preventive health needs.

This position emphasizes continuity of care and holistic wellness for all age groups, promoting health equity and cultural respect within the Tribal community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide comprehensive primary care for patients of all ages and genders under standardized protocols in accordance with California Board of Medical Quality Assurance guidelines.
  2. Perform complete diagnostic evaluations, including obtaining medical histories, conducting physical exams, and interpreting laboratory and imaging results.
  3. Diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions affecting children, adults, and elders.
  4. Deliver preventive care including immunizations, screenings, and patient education on nutrition, exercise, and disease prevention.
  5. Provide pediatric and adolescent care, including well-child visits, immunizations, developmental screenings, and sports physicals.
  6. Manage adult and geriatric health, including chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease).
  7. Administer or prescribe appropriate treatments and medications consistent with evidence-based practices.
  8. Coordinate referrals to specialty and ancillary services as needed, ensuring continuity and follow-up of care.
  9. Support women’s health, including family planning, contraceptive counseling, and prenatal and postpartum care as within scope.
  10. Collaborate closely with other FRTH providers, nurses, and support staff to ensure high-quality, integrated patient care.
  11. Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation in the electronic health record (NextGen EHR).
  12. Participate in quality and performance improvement initiatives, including case reviews, peer evaluations, and audits.
  13. Use prudent judgment when emergencies require action beyond established protocols and immediately notify the Medical Director as appropriate.
  14. Engage in community health promotion and outreach activities that support FRTH’s mission of improving the health and wellbeing of Tribal members and surrounding communities.
  15. Maintain professional and respectful communication with patients, staff, and community partners.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist in recruitment, mentorship, and evaluation of medical personnel as requested.
  2. Support the development and delivery of staff and patient health education programs.
  3. Maintain required continuing medical education (CME) and certifications to sustain licensure and clinical excellence.
  4. Participate in community health events and Tribal health initiatives.
  5. Serve as a preceptor for students or residents when applicable.
  6. Attend required meetings, trainings, and agency events as scheduled.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned in alignment with FRTH’s mission and goals.

  11. Knowledge of all confidentiality requirements as outlined in the Corporate Compliance Plan.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Current California license as Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy.
  2. Board certified or board eligible in Family Practice, Internal Medicine or other closely related specialty or three (3) years of clinical experience.
  3. At least three (3) years’ experience in ambulatory outpatient medicine.
  4. Must have a current DEA narcotic license.
  5. Current CPR certificate.
  6. Possession of a valid California driver’s license and current car insurance sufficient to be insurable, if a designated requirement.

Compensation & Benefits:

Hourly Rate: $129.04-134.25, depending on experience

Health Insurance: Employer-paid medical coverage starting the month after hire for all tiers — Self, Self + One, and Self + Family

Dental & Vision: 100% employer-paid for employee-only coverage; additional family coverage available at a competitive rate

401(k) Plan: Available immediately upon hire with a 3.5% employer match

Life Insurance: $20,000 employer-paid policy for full-time employees, with options to purchase additional coverage

Paid Time Off: Vacation begins accruing on your first day — up to 120 hours annually
