Position SummaryThe Director of Construction Operations is responsible for the complete management of WBG’s construction operations. This role ensures consistent profitability, high-quality workmanship, labor productivity, strong safety performance, and exceptional customer outcomes across all projects.This is a senior leadership position requiring hands-on operational experience, strong financial acumen, and the ability to lead, mentor, and hold teams accountable.What You’ll DoOperations & Field Leadership
- Oversee all construction operations, including field labor, project management, warehouse, and sheet metal shop
- Develop and manage weekly labor plans to maximize productivity and resource utilization
- Conduct regular jobsite visits to ensure quality, safety, and production standards are met
- Interview, mentor, and develop foremen, superintendents, and project managers
- Lead foreman meetings and annual training initiatives
- Ensure effective handoff from estimating to project execution
- Review estimates, schedules, labor plans, and budgets for accuracy and completeness
- Monitor labor variances, committed costs, and profit fade
- Chair weekly labor coordination meetings
- Oversee billing, cash flow, project closeout, and customer satisfaction reviews
- Lead post-job reviews to capture lessons learned and drive improvement
- Coach estimating staff on bid strategy, project selection, and markup analysis
- Review plans, specs, and special conditions for cost impacts and risk
- Provide feedback on manpower, scheduling, and constructability
- Ensure strong coordination between estimating, project management, and the shop
- Promote a culture where safety is equal to quality and production
- Require consistent safety evaluations during site visits
- Support OSHA training and specialized safety education
- Participate in safety peer groups and industry seminars
- Assist in company strategic planning and business development efforts
- Represent WBG in trade associations and industry groups
- Promote ownership, urgency, accountability, and ethical decision-making across the organization
- Maintain strong focus on positive cash flow
- Ensure timely and accurate billing, collections, and retention recovery
- Drive gross margin performance in alignment with annual planning goals
- Ensure adherence to pre-construction, construction, and post-construction processes
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum 10 years of project management experience
- Minimum 10 years of construction operations leadership experience
- Strong work ethic and personal accountability
