The Tennis Program Manager is responsible for leading and growing all aspects of the Courts Plus tennis department. This position oversees daily operations, develops and manages programming, supervises staff, and ensures a high-quality experience for players of all ages and skill levels.
This role focuses on program leadership, department growth, and staff development rather than primarily providing on-court instruction. The Tennis Program Manager plays a key role in strengthening the tennis community, increasing participation, maximizing court utilization, and supporting the strategic long-term success of the tennis programming at Courts Plus.
Essential Functions
Evaluation of this position is based primarily on performance of the following essential functions, which include but are not limited to:
Program Development & Growth
- Develop and implement a comprehensive tennis programming strategy.
- Plan and manage an annual calendar of leagues, clinics, lessons, tournaments, camps, and special events.
- Create innovative programs for youth, junior, adult, beginner, recreational, and competitive players.
- Identify underutilized court times and introduce programs that increase participation and revenue.
- Promote tennis programs and events to attract new players and retain existing participants.
- Evaluate program performance and adjust offerings to increase participation, improve court utilization, and support program sustainability.
Operations & Program Oversight
- Oversee daily operations of the tennis program and ensure smooth execution of all activities.
- Coordinate and optimize court scheduling for programs, leagues, lessons, tournaments, and member reservations.
- Ensure court spaces are clean, safe, and well maintained with coordination with facility staff.
- Track program participation, budgets, and financial performance.
- Deliver excellent customer service to enhance member satisfaction and program quality.
Staff Recruitment & Leadership
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise tennis personnel, including instructors, supervisors, and tennis professionals.
- Establish clear performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching and professional development.
- Schedule staff based on program participation and demand.
- Foster a positive, professional, and collaborative department culture that supports staff accountability and growth.
Community Engagement & Events
- Build and maintain strong relationships with participants, families, and the local tennis community.
- Organize tournaments, mixers, and other tennis-related events.
- Develop partnerships with local schools, colleges, the USTA, and community organizations.
- Represent Courts Plus within the local tennis community and at community events.
- Promote tennis participation throughout Courts Plus.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Assist with budgeting and financial oversight of tennis programming, including tracking program revenue and expenses.
- Analyze participation data to guide programming decisions and identify growth opportunities.
- Support marketing efforts including flyers, website updates, and digital communications.
- Contribute to long-term planning for facility improvements and tennis program growth.
Other Functions
Performance evaluation for this position may also include the following duties:
- Maintain regular communication with the direct supervisor regarding program performance, issues, or operational needs.
- Perform duties in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe environment for staff, members, and guests.
- Assist with Courts Plus special events and facility programs as needed.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- 2–3 years of experience managing or supervising tennis programs.
- Experience in event planning, program coordination, or volunteer management preferred.
- Experience recruiting and developing instructors.
Certifications
- USPTA or PTR certification preferred but not required.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and staff management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with members, staff, and the community.
- Strong organizational and strategic planning skills.
- Ability to analyze participation and financial data to help guide program decisions.
- Proficiency with club or recreation management software.

- Ability and willingness to work outdoors during the summer season.
