This role sits at the intersection of advanced technical support and customer-facing engineering, focused on ensuring the stability, performance, and evolution of complex network and systems environments. You will work on software, firmware, and OS upgrades across telecom and networking platforms in high-availability infrastructures. The position involves hands-on work with virtualization, Linux/Unix systems, and network management systems, often in mission-critical environments. You will collaborate closely with global customers and internal engineering teams to deliver timely upgrades, troubleshooting, and system restorations. The role requires strong technical depth, problem-solving ability, and the flexibility to operate in dynamic and fast-paced conditions. - Deliver onsite and remote technical support for OS, NMS/EMS/OSS, and network element software/firmware upgrades within defined timelines and quality standards.
- Install, configure, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux, Solaris, Windows, and VMware-based systems in customer environments.
- Perform patch management, system upgrades, and service restoration activities across complex network infrastructures.
- Support recovery operations for OS and hardware failures and ensure system continuity in critical environments.
- Work with optical and IP networking technologies including DWDM, SDH, MPLS-TP, and related diagnostic tools.
- Collaborate with global customers and internal teams (engineering, R&D, project management, sales) for deployment and issue resolution.
- Apply basic scripting and automation knowledge (Shell, Python, APIs) for operational and integration tasks.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, or related engineering discipline.
- 4–6 years of hands-on experience in Linux/Unix (Red Hat, Solaris), Windows, and VMware environments.
- Strong understanding of OS installation, upgrades, patching, and system maintenance.
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals (CCNA-level knowledge preferred).
- Exposure to NMS/EMS systems, virtualization, storage, and geo-redundant architectures.
- Basic scripting skills (Shell scripting, Python) and understanding of SNMP, NETCONF/YANG APIs.
- Knowledge of optical networking technologies and troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, OTDR, iperf).
- Strong communication skills, customer-facing experience, and ability to work flexible schedules and travel internationally when required.
