Position Overview:
The Mobility Equipment Technician plays a critical role in ensuring patients receive correct mobility equipment, and replacement parts safely, accurately, and on time. Serving as a direct representative of Rehab Medical in patients’ homes and care settings, the Mobility Equipment Technician provides professional delivery, setup, basic adjustments, service, and education on proper equipment use. Through excellent customer service, documentation, and attention to safety and quality. The Mobility Equipment Technician helps patients gain independence, comfort, and confidence with their mobility equipment. You’ll work directly with patients, therapists, and Assistive Technology Professionals (ATPs) to ensure mobility equipment is functioning safely and customized to patient needs.
This position is also part of our ATP Career Path, designed to guide technicians from entry-level roles to certified ATP support and beyond.
Compensation:
- Hourly Range: $18 – $28 per hour
- Compensation is based on experience, performance, and certifications
- Advancement to ATP Support role
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of experience delivering consumer or medical equipment (preferred)
- Mechanical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot, repair, and set up complex power chairs
- Basic computer and communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with patients while maintaining professionalism, respect and confidentiality
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Delivery, Service, and Repair
- Provide exceptional customer service and education of all deliveries, service calls, pickups, and repairs according to manufacturer guidelines and patient needs.
- Always maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while representing Rehab Medical in the patient’s home.
- Diagnoses, troubleshoot, repair, and document equipment issues in a timely and accurate manner.
- Complete all required paperwork and electronic documentation accurately and promptly.
- Understand requirements to be able to bill the claim; particularly understanding what patients must sign.
- Understand compliance guidelines as it relates to paperwork.
Vehicle Management and Compliance
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe company vehicle in compliance with company policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and audits to ensure cleanliness, safety, and readiness for daily operations.
- Follow Safe driving procedures at all times
Communication and Team Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with office staff, operations teams, and corporate partners regarding delivery status, service issues, and schedule changes.
- Proactively report delays, patient concerns, or challenges that may impact delivery or service outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with teams to resolve issues and improve service quality.
- Assist in office and warehouse post or pre route as needed.
