About This Position

The Controls Engineer will have the motivation to help create custom solutions for our customers by providing cutting edge technical advances!
Essential Functions: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Create Electrical Schematics, panels, and machine layouts for various machine orders.
• Develops engineering design plans by researching, analyzing, selecting, and applying engineering techniques and criteria. Adapt and modify engineering approaches and options. Develop and evaluate new engineering approaches. Perform circuit, logic, and component designs using Computer Aided Design (CAD) techniques. Prepare layouts, block diagrams, and schematics. Collaborate with related engineering design teams. Evaluate components, materials, and suppliers. Identify and resolve engineering design integration/interface issues.
• Determine and establish engineering design specifications and safety standards.
• Create detailed parts descriptions for the database.
• Build a detailed bill of material.
• Research components and determine/recommend the correct one for the application.
• Design electrical controls systems that will achieve the customers' specific needs.
• Confirm electrical system and component capabilities by designing testing methods and properties.
• Evaluate electrical systems, products, components, and applications by researching, analyzing, selecting, and applying electrical engineering concepts, approaches, techniques, and criteria. Design and conduct research programs.
• Analyze electrical requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
• Professionally communicate and listen to customers to fully understand what the customer needs (internal and external customer). Continue to build strong customer relationships. Working together to achieve or exceed each customer's desired expectations.
• Support the Sales/Development Department with preliminary design philosophy to support client relationships and new opportunities.
• Work closely with the client’s team, as well as the Project Manager and Regional Sales Manager to guarantee a quality system is designed and tested to customers’ specifications.
• Troubleshoot controls and communicates issues during construction and operations to achieve a quality solution.
• Responsible for ensuring Safety requirements are met.
• Follow any other job-related duties/functions requested by the supervisor.
• Create and install PLC & HMI programs and all other software needed to make the machine operate as required.
• Travel to customer sites to assist in the installation or repair of the machine’s electrical system if required

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment with Engineering programs, phones, and printers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may sit for a prolonged period of time, stand and move to different departments. The employee will need vision to see close, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, talk, hear and listen while working on the shop floor with team members or collaborating with the customer.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, working Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Electrical Controls Engineering with focus on engineering and manufacturing.
