Registered Nurse (RN) Lactation Consultant

Work location: Texas Health Allen, 1105 Central Expressway North, Allen Texas 75013

Work hours: PRN, Days 8 hours, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Department highlights:

• Level II Maternal Designation with Level III NICU

• 8 LDRPs, 5 Antepartum Rooms, 2 Operating Rooms

• 40 - 45 deliveries per month

Here's What You Need

• Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program

• BSN preferred

• One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.

• Lactation Consultant experience preferred

• RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required

• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly

• NRP - Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days required

• IBCLC - Lactation Consultant certification within 24 months required

What You Will Do

Function as expert resource on breastfeeding issues for patients, families, community, staff and physicians

• Serve as clinical expert for lactation issues based on evidence

• Produce documentation that initiates, follows and revises patient's plan of care

• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes and promote continuity of care

• Review patient medications for potential complications associated with breastfeeding

• Assess outpatients for symptoms of jaundice and breastfeeding problems

• Participate in breast pump rental and retail sales within the Breastfeeding Resource Center
