TITLE:

Hotel Room Inspector

DEPARTMENT:

Housekeeping

STATUS:

Non-Exempt, Full Time

SUPERVISED BY:

Rooms Manager, Assistant Rooms Manager

The Hotel Room Inspector is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of guest rooms, and common areas as assigned ensuring the Ocean View Hotel’s established standards of cleanliness. This position is responsible for maintaining overall cleanliness and reporting any maintenance deficiencies. A successful person in this position must ensure that the standards and protocol of cleanliness within the department and the Company are followed without fail. This position will be responsible for cleaning, reporting areas of improvement to Management. Communicating and reporting the room status of inspected rooms, to Guest Services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Inspect guest rooms before and after check-in/check-out to ensure cleanliness and quality standards.

  • Verify all hotel amenities, are stocked & furnishings, in working order and maintained.

  • Report maintenance issues, damages, or safety concerns immediately to Engineering & Management.

  • Ensure guest rooms are properly stocked, thoroughly cleaned, and well-maintained, including all furnishings, surfaces, and amenities.

  • Perform deep cleaning inspections with housekeeping staff to uphold high standards.

  • Adhere to Lost and Found policies.

  • Remain knowledgeable of hotel fire and emergency procedures

  • Completion of full room cleaning as needed, Make up cribs and clean rollaway beds as needed.

  • Other essential room cleaning duties as operations change in the future.

  • Report inventory and storage needs to management on a weekly basis.

  • Conduct monthly linen inventory, and report par levels to management.

  • Address inspection discrepancies and communicate areas of improvement to management.

  • Collaborate with the front desk to prioritize rooms for cleaning and inspection.

  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have, as a minimum of 3 year experience, in a similar capacity in a hotel with attention to detail.
  • A supervisor level experience with less than a year is ideal
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL WORK DEMANDS:

  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 4 hours).
  • Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis to perform duties.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English (speak, read, write) with guests, co-workers and management to their understanding
  • Ability to exert physical effort consistent with cleaning an industry standard number of rooms per shift (approximately 14-16 standard rooms).
  • Ability to grasp, bend, and stoop; push or pull heavy loads weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Regular and on-time attendance is critical on weekends and holidays.
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling
  • Hours occasionally exceed 40 hours per week.
