Job Overview: Operating Room

Environmental Services Aide /cleaning services will: support the highest possible level of cleanliness; include turning over O.R. Patient rooms, terminally cleaning rooms and restocking of certain supplies and functions as an integral part of our Environmental services team.

Provide exceptional service to internal and external customers; maintain an orderly and attractive environment throughout the facility in accordance to RWJ standards.

Follow isolation cleaning procedures when cleaning isolation rooms to prevent the spread of pathogens.

Clean and disinfect daily bathroom fixtures, mirrors, windows, doors, walls as far as can be reached and replenish bathroom supplies if necessary

Notifies supervisor when supplies in the Environmental Services storage room are low,

Report work orders when repairs are needed in assigned areas

Maintaining tools and equipment in good condition is responsible for economical use of supplies.

Mechanical aptitude to operate machines and equipment may include hard floor surface maintenance, e.g, stripping, refinishing, burnishing and shampooing carpets.

Delivers clean linen throughout the facility

Enhances professional growth and development by attending in-service, required meetings and other educational programs

Scheduling Requirements:

Rotating Weekends and Holidays required

Shift working: Nights 2:30pm -11:00pm

Required Skills/Abilities:

Must know how to use common housecleaning implements such as mops, floor waxes, and scouring pads to keep areas clean and well serviced,

Ability to follow oral or written instructions,

Work with constant concern for the safety of all patients, and visitors etc.

Interact in a positive manner with coworkers in all departments to accomplish the goals and objectives of the hospital for effective patient care.

Must be able to read, write and speak English,

Perform other duties as may be assigned,

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs,

Including bending, stooping and stretching,
