About the Job
We are currently seeking an assistant or associate geologist or environmental scientist for our Investigation and Remediation business area. This is a hybrid-based position working from our Moorestown, New Jersey, office, at least 2–3 days a week and will involve field projects in other states with the potential for overnight or extended stays. The position will support multiple clients and projects, with the common theme of site characterization and remediation. The day-to-day work will vary and will involve participating in site characterization studies—collecting field data (soil, groundwater, sediment, and surface water), managing onsite subcontractors, supporting the project team with report production, including quality assurance and quality control of documents, data analysis efforts, and other tasks. Requirements:Responsibilities
As an Assistant/Associate Scientist, your job functions will include, but not be limited to:
- Performing frequent fieldwork involving site characterization studies through collection of groundwater, surface water, and sediment samples
- Managing onsite subcontractors as part of well installation and soil sampling activities
- Keeping organized and detailed field notes to support decision-making and to provide written summaries of tasks completed for reporting
- Utilizing critical thinking to identify outlier conditions and report these observations to the project team in real time
- Adhering to safety standards and actively participating in our safe work culture
- Fieldwork responsibilities may include long days in the field, extended exposure to the elements (sun, rain, wind), prolonged standing, and other physically demanding tasks such as lifting equipment or materials.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a B.S. or M.S. degree in hydrogeology, chemistry, geology, environmental science, engineering, or related technical field.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 1+ year of professional experience in the geology, environmental science, or engineering field
- Environmental fieldwork experience
- A passion for environmental fieldwork
- ArcGIS skills
- A valid U.S. driver's license (or ability to obtain one upon hire) and a clean driving record. If a driver’s license cannot be obtained, reliable transportation to project and field sites is required.
- A desire to grow both intellectually and professionally
- Strong organizational abilities
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office products
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Compensation is commensurate with experience and internal equity. An employee’s total compensation package includes annual salary; company-subsidized (employee and family) medical, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) participation with a company match of 1% to 4% of annual compensation; company-paid life and short- and long-term disability insurance; paid sick leave (10 days), paid vacation (10 days), and paid holidays (9 days) per year; and the potential for an annual discretionary bonus based on company performance. Paid time off will be prorated to reflect part-time scheduled hours, if applicable.
