POSITION TITLE: Laboratory Manager & Technologist - Per diemLOCATION: Barre, VT HOURS: Per Diem, Hourly (Non-Exempt)UNION MEMBERSHIP: This position is represented by AFT union in VT
POSITION PURPOSE:Responsible for all aspects of the operation of an in-house high complexity laboratory in accordance with laboratory protocols. Utilizes lab information system to enter patient data, prepares specimens, performs tests using automated or semi-automated equipment, interprets, correlates, and reports results to PPNNE clinical staff, interacts with staff and patients as needed utilizing EHR and telephony technology, tracks usage of and orders lab supplies, coordinates operating hours with supervisor and clinic staff, maintains test equipment, performs quality control, proficiency testing and ensures lab cleanliness. Develops and maintains test procedure manual. Builds laboratory information system and manages updates/new upgrades.YOUR DAY- TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Perform and interpret lab tests accurately by preparing specimens, using proper equipment, and following established procedures.
- Ensure quality and compliance by following safety protocols, maintaining equipment, and adhering to regulations like HIPAA, OSHA, and CLIA.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to share results, troubleshoot issues, and support patient care through strong communication and problem-solving.
- Maintain lab operations by managing supplies, updating procedures, keeping records, and assisting with policy reviews and improvements.
- Support innovation and learning by implementing new tests, contributing ideas, and participating in staff training, education, and professional development.

- Pay Range - for this position is based on years of relevant work experience. Candidates with 0-5 years of experience can expect to earn between $32.75 -$36.17 per hour. As experience increases, so does the rate of pay, with candidates who have 19 or more years of direct experience earning up to $47.72 per hour/year.

- Bachelors degree in medical technology or clinical laboratory science preferred
- ASCP, CLS (NCA) accreditation strongly preferred
- Bachelors degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science with at least 1 year of laboratory training or experience in high complexity testing OR Associates degree in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution with at least 2 years training or experience in high complexity testing required
- Superb attention to detail; ability to follow processes and procedures from beginning to end within established timelines
- Ability to handle discreet, confidential information
- Desire to work as part of an interdisciplinary team to meet the needs of health center customers
