RN 12.5 Hr Shift at RWJBarnabas Health – Livingston, New Jersey

Job Overview:
Organize and administer individualized age-specific professional care to patients within an assigned unit of the hospital in support of medical care. Supports the philosophy, objectives and the mission and vision of Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and the Department of Nursing. Practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, Department of Health Regulations, TJC requirements and other regulatory agencies. Participates in patient teaching and discharge planning. Participates in Unit Performance Improvement evaluation activities.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing
• Must have one (1) year dialysis experience
• On Call Required
• Completion of all Orientation requirements of Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center
• Successful completion of all orientation programs

Preferred:

• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or currently matriculating

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• Current Registered Nurse License in the state of New Jersey
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

• Day Shift, 6:30A-7:30P, 12.5 Hr. Shift
• Part-Time, 25 hours per week

Essential Functions:

• The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.
• The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of their own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others in the patient care team by communication with and utilizing the resources and programs available.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
• The Registered Nurse participates in patient teaching and discharge planning. Participates in unit Performance Improvement evaluation activities.
• The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, who utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient’s needs.
