About This Position

Overview

Emerging Tech is seeking a dedicated, site-level Technical Electronic Health Record (EHR) Implementation Lead to support the successful deployment and optimization of Cerner as part of the EHRM-IO Strategic Plan.

This role serves as the technical authority at the facility level, working both independently and collaboratively across information services and operational teams to ensure system integrations are fully functional, optimized, and aligned with strategic healthcare objectives.

The selected candidate will apply deep technical expertise to support implementation efforts, manage system dependencies, minimize disruption to clinical operations, and ensure successful technical delivery across multiple stakeholder groups.

This position requires up to 70% travel to support site-based implementation activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the site-level technical lead for Cerner / EHR implementation efforts.

  • Develop and execute strategies for integrating multiple IT systems and subsystems into an operational healthcare environment while maintaining full functionality and performance.

  • Collaborate closely with OIT, Biomedical Engineering (BioMed), Facilities Management Services (FMS), clinical departments, support services, project managers, and other technical stakeholders to gather and define requirements.

  • Analyze technical dependencies and provide guidance on integration risks, mitigation strategies, and optimization opportunities.

  • Coordinate with development and user teams to assess risks, goals, and operational needs to ensure successful system deployment.

  • Lead the introduction of new enterprise-level hardware and software into new or existing environments while minimizing disruption and mitigating risk.

  • Ensure cost-conscious execution while meeting performance, schedule, and strategic objectives.

  • Provide autonomous technical leadership throughout the implementation of electronic medical record technologies.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 15+ years of professional experience in Information Technology.

  • Demonstrated experience developing strategies and plans for integrating multiple IT systems/subsystems into an operational environment.

  • Proven ability to coordinate across technical and user teams to assess risks, goals, and operational needs.

  • Experience introducing enterprise-level hardware and/or software into live environments while minimizing disruption.

  • Strong understanding of technical dependencies within complex IT ecosystems.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field. An additional 8 years of relevant experience may be substituted for degree requirements.

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 70% in support of site implementation activities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) environment.

  • Experience implementing Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, preferably Cerner.
