Caregiver at Caring for Family of Companies – Caring for the Cascades - Sisters, Oregon
About This Position
The Caregiver provides in-home support to clients who need assistance with daily living activities. Responsibilities include personal care, medication assistance, meal preparation, housekeeping, and companionship. Caregivers follow each client’s individualized Service Plan and maintain accurate documentation. Success in this role requires patience, empathy, dependability, and strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and mobility
- Follow the client’s Service Plan and document all services provided
- Observe and report changes in client condition or behavior and report incidents per company policy
- Support medication needs per policy and state regulations
- Prepare meals and assist with grocery shopping as needed
- Maintain a clean and safe home environment through light housekeeping and laundry
- Use safe transfer and mobility techniques and identify potential safety hazards in the home
- Follow infection control practices and maintain a sanitary care environment
- Provide companionship and emotional support while promoting client independence
- Transport clients to approved appointments or errands when required by the Service Plan
Essential Functions (Required with or without reasonable accommodation)
- Reliable, predictable, and punctual attendance; ability to work assigned schedules essential to client safety
- Ability to perform all listed physical tasks, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, navigating stairs, and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in unpredictable home environments, including exposure to pets, odors, allergens, clutter, and varying temperatures
- Ability to read, understand, and follow care plans and written/oral instructions
- Ability to maintain professionalism, exercise sound judgment, and work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to complete required documentation during or immediately after each shift
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and ability to travel between client homes (if driving is assigned)
- Ability to comply with all company policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact well with different types of clients and co-workers in a productive and positive manner
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred
- Ability to meet all physical and attendance requirements listed above
- Ability to complete state-mandated caregiver training
- Understanding of HIPAA and company confidentiality obligations
- Successful completion of background and reference checks

- Work occurs in private homes with variable cleanliness, temperature, noise, clutter, and presence of pets or other individuals
- Exposure to household allergens, chemicals, or other common substances
