  • JOB SUMMARY
    • Analyzes, monitors and Leads registration operations for King’s Daughters Medical Center. Works within the Medical Center’s Revenue Cycle Department to ensure accountability, efficiency, compliance and customer satisfaction. Manages the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of team members. Interacts with KDMC and KDOH team members, patients, insurance companies, physician offices and other hospital departments regarding patients' accounts and physician information.
  • DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
    • Courteously answers phone calls stating name and department, routes calls and provides information to internal and external customers, Team Members and medical staff; Facilitates guest and customer concerns by keeping patients and families informed; Confer with physicians, bed assignment personnel, nursing, environmental services, transport, and other Team Members to coordinate and schedule admission of patients; Answers telephone in a clear concise manner as directed per appropriate scripting. Monitors customer wait times and takes corrective action when necessary; Monitors customer satisfaction scores and comments for the Revenue Cycle Areas and responds to issues as needed; Protect privacy of all other sensitive data and written information and do not discuss with others.
    • Requests accommodation information based on physician's admitting orders, patient's preference, nature of illness, availability of space and other information, and enters bed assignment information into the computer; Prepares records of admission, transfer, and other required data; Notifies departments of patient's admission.
    • Interviews a patient or patient's representative to obtain necessary personal and financial data to determine eligibility for admission; Explains Medical Center polices regarding deposits, parking, personal items and visitation; Provides patients/families with appropriate information regarding HIPAA, HIV, living wills and other information as required by state and federal guidelines;
    • Take personal responsibility for staying informed of unit/department and Medical Center activities, announcements and standards; Attend all mandatory meetings, education, and if absent, make efforts to review the information within 30 days; Fully comply with the Code of Conduct and all applicable standards in daily work; Remain technically proficient to perform job with minimal support of others
    • Monitors registrations in all access points to verify accuracy and coaches as needed; Monitors all Revenue Cycle work queues in EPIC; Monitors and adjusts productivity standards; Supervises Patient Registration staff in all hospital locations to ensure quality performance and promote awareness of departmental processes, policies and goals.
    • Prepares, monitors or distributes monthly reports to Manager/Director; Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Always maintains confidential information related to patients, Team Members, the Medical Center and department operations.
    • Identifies opportunities to eliminate waste and improve effectiveness; Makes recommendation for improvement to leader; Responds to requests for information from other departments, hospital administration and physician providers; Provides accurate information regarding operation of department, uses good judgment in the interpretation of policies and procedures.
    • Demonstrates ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, and procedure manuals; Demonstrates ability to print routine reports and type correspondence; Remains aware of unnecessary overtime and plans work accordingly; Demonstrates cost awareness and utilization of resources; Works any shift necessary for the adequate coverage of the department and additional hours if needed; attends all guest relations, guaranteed patient satisfaction and mandatory training programs; Schedules Registration Staff in all areas to minimize overtime and rotate job duties between the staff to keep everyone up-to-date in all functions; Reviews administrative allows for the department prior to the Director’s review.
  • EDUCATION/LICENSE/ CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    • Minimum requirement:
      • Five years related Patient Access Experience
      • High School Diploma or GED
    • Preferred qualifications:
      • Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration
  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT
    • This job operates in a professional office environment routinely using standard office equipment such as computers.
    • The noise level in this position is usually low.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    • Regularly required to maintain a stationary position behind a computer
    • Regularly required to communicate with callers telephonically and in-person requiring talking and hearing
    • Constantly required to operate a computer and telephone.
    • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
