Job Summary: The Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant workplace for employees at a steel building manufacturing facility. This position involves conducting safety training, inspections, and audits while fostering a culture of safety awareness throughout the organization. The Safety Coordinator will serve as the primary resource for ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

· Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.

· Evaluate and update existing safety protocols to address new hazards or regulatory changes.

· Create site-specific safety plans tailored to manufacturing processes and materials.

· Conduct safety orientation for new hires and ongoing training for all employees.

· Ensure all shop members are utilizing the required PPE (e.g., gloves, safety glasses) correctly and consistently.

· Monitor PPE inventory and coordinate replenishment as needed.

· Conduct spot checks to reinforce PPE compliance and address non-compliance issues.

· Organize and deliver specialized training on topics such as equipment operation, hazardous material handling, and emergency response.

· Develop and distribute safety communications, including posters, newsletters, and toolbox talks.

· Perform regular inspections of the facility, equipment, and work processes to identify potential hazards.

· Monitor the performance of daily forklift, crane, and other equipment inspections to ensure compliance and operational safety.

· Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.

· Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incident reports, and corrective actions.

· Attend all injured employees’ doctor visits to facilitate communication and provide support.

· Manage and monitor light-duty assignments for injured employees, ensuring compliance with medical restrictions and company policies.

· Collaborate with HR and supervisors to facilitate a smooth return-to-work process.

· Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable safety and environmental regulations.

· Coordinate and assist with regulatory inspections, audits, and reporting.

· Monitor and maintain safety-related documentation, including SDS (Safety Data Sheets), permits, and certifications.

· Develop and coordinate emergency response plans, including fire evacuation, chemical spills, and severe weather procedures.

· Conduct periodic drills to test emergency response readiness.

· Serve as the point of contact for employee safety concerns, suggestions, and feedback.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

· 2+ years of experience in a safety role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

· Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and best practices for manufacturing.

· Must have 10-hour OSHA certification or be acquired within 6 months of employment.

· Required to have CPR & First Aid Certification within 3 months of employment.

· Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA 30-hour, CSP, or CHST) are a plus.

· Excellent communication and training skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.


Location: This position is on-site at our facility located at 125 Pequanoc Dr Tallpoosa, GA 30176. Some travel is required; accompanying employees to doctor’s appointments and therapy sessions.
