Accurate medical coding is a critical part of the patient care and revenue cycle experience at Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic. As a Coding Specialist, you play an essential role in ensuring that clinical services are translated correctly into codes that support accurate billing, timely reimbursement, and high‑quality patient care documentation. Your work directly supports providers, the billing team, and our organization's overall financial health.

Position Highlights:
1.0 FTE (40 hours per week)
$21.23-$26.01/hour DOE with the ability to go higher for highly experienced candidates

What You’ll Do:
Identify, research, and resolve issues that impede the successful posting of clinical charges
Post charges in Epic per the Coding rules and conventions
Review charge documents for completeness and return incomplete documents to the source
Maintain confidentiality of all patient demographics and medical and financial information at all times
Uphold Medicare, Medicaid, and HIPAA compliance guidelines in relation to billing, collections, and PHI information
Meet performance, accuracy, and attendance expectations, and participate in required meetings
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED
Minimum six months of experience in healthcare coding or billing
Experience with a healthcare practice management system
FQHC billing or coding & Epic system experience is a plus
CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification is preferred
Ability to use and interpret coding books and guidelines
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Knowledge of medical/dental terminology and accounts receivable processes preferred
Effective written, verbal, and listening communication skills
Ability to maintain consistent performance and confidentiality
