This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a team of power system engineers in shaping the future of the electric grid. You will oversee high-level transmission studies, guide complex projects, and ensure timely, high-quality delivery for a variety of clients. The position combines technical leadership, project management, and team development, allowing you to mentor engineers while supporting business growth and client engagement. You will work with advanced power system software and analyze grid reliability, stability, and constraint mitigation. This role emphasizes innovation, operational excellence, and process improvement, with a flexible work environment and occasional travel. Your contributions will directly influence the resilience, security, and modernization of the power grid across multiple regions.
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of 2–10 power system engineers to perform transmission studies including steady-state, transient stability, short circuit, and EMT analyses
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards
- Conduct high-level power system studies using tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, PowerWorld, TARA, ASPEN, CAPE, and PSCAD
- Serve as primary client contact, understanding needs and providing timely updates throughout project life cycles
- Develop system upgrade and constraint mitigation plans for identified grid issues
- Assist in model development for generation, load, transmission lines, and transformers
- Improve internal processes to enhance team efficiency while maintaining high standards of deliverables
- Support business development by contributing to RFPs, scope of work statements, and client proposals
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience as a Power Systems Engineer in the electric energy industry with hands-on work in steady-state and dynamic base cases
- Experience managing and mentoring teams of engineers
- Proficiency with power system software: PSS/E, PSLF, PowerWorld, TARA, CAPE, ASPEN, PSCAD
- Knowledge of multiple U.S. power regions and Independent System Operators (e.g., PJM, MISO, NEISO, SPP, CAISO, WECC, SERC, ERCOT, NYISO)
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
- Preferred: SPP or MISO region experience, EMT study experience
