IT Support Specialist

Brown Technologies is currently seeking an IT Support Specialist who is a self-starter supporting the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Engineering Research and Development Center (ERDC), Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory Field Research Facility (FRF).

DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a full-time IT Support Specialist to work onsite supporting mission-critical operations at the ERDC Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory Field Research Facility in Duck, NC. The selected candidate will provide hands-on technical support, maintain IT infrastructure, and ensure reliable operation of desktop systems, networks, and specialized field data collection equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serve as the primary point of contact for end users, providing timely and professional IT support
• Provide end-user support for Windows and macOS systems, including applications, printers, and mobile devices
• Act as onsite point of contact for local IT infrastructure, including network and server systems
• Perform system imaging and hardware installation for desktops and laptops
• Maintain accurate records of support activities in the helpdesk ticketing system
• Assist enterprise IT teams with onsite equipment installation, cabling, and power management
• Manage and maintain onsite storage systems to ensure data integrity and availability
• Support specialized equipment including LiDAR systems, environmental sensors, and data collection platforms
• Communicate site-specific technical needs to enterprise IT teams
• Document system configurations and processes to ensure continuity of operations
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical issues

Additional Duties:

• Support VPN configuration and connectivity for end users
• Assist with enterprise antivirus and security compliance requirements
• Provide basic support for Linux systems as needed
• Support MacOS systems in an enterprise environment

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:
• U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
• 3+ years of experience supporting desktop operating systems in a Microsoft Active Directory environment
• 3+ years supporting Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, web browsers, and enterprise antivirus solutions
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems
• Experience with network printers and desktop VPN support
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues

Preferred:
• U.S. Citizen with an active Secret Clearance
• Experience supporting macOS in an enterprise environment
• Familiarity with Linux operating systems and command line usage
• Experience with remote support tools such as Bomgar (or equivalent)
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
• CompTIA A+ certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
