Cultural Anthropology
The Department of Anthropology at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a full-time visiting lecturer position in cultural anthropology to begin in Fall 2026. The teaching load for this position is 6 courses (18 credits) per year: three courses in each of the Fall and Spring terms. The courses will be taught at undergraduate levels, and they will include large lecture courses, smaller undergraduate seminars, methods, and writing courses. Candidates working in any geographical area and field of specialization are encouraged to apply, but priority will be given to candidates who can teach courses focused on race and gender in the United States. The successful Candidate will also be asked to teach courses such as Introduction to Cultural Anthropology, Field Methods in Cultural Anthropology, and courses within the Candidate's own areas of expertise, depending on curricular needs in the Department of Anthropology. As part of their instructional activities, the Candidate will also provide support and mentor undergraduate students in research activities appropriate to their educational needs.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Anthropology at the time of appointment. The position is outside the tenure stream, but it is renewable for two additional years in the same employment category based on need, funding, and continued excellence in teaching.
