Summary
Legendary Entertainment is seeking a high-caliber Senior Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team. This is a hands-on role with direct exposure to senior leadership and meaningful responsibility in the quarterly close, financial reporting, and technical accounting processes.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting fundamentals, intellectual curiosity, and a desire to take ownership of complex areas. This position is well-suited for someone who wants to deepen their expertise in financial reporting and technical accounting while contributing to process improvements and operational discipline within a growing global media company.
This role will work closely with the Corporate Accounting and Finance teams to support quarterly close and reporting processes, including preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, consolidation worksheets, and supporting schedules.
Responsibilities
Financial Close and Reporting
- Support quarterly close activities, including leading preparation and posting of complex journal entries, and financial reporting deliverables
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations with strong supporting documentation
- Support quarterly film and television accounting, including maintaining ultimate revenue estimates, preparing and updating amortization calculations, and supporting related financial analyses
- Prepare and review consolidation schedules for production entities, including foreign currency translation adjustments, intercompany eliminations, and top-side entries to ensure accurate consolidated financial reporting
Technical Accounting & Controls
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Contribute to development and documentation of accounting policies and procedures
- Maintain strong SOX 404 compliance and internal control documentation
- Participate in year-end audits, including preparation of audit support schedules and related requests.
Process Improvement & Strategic Projects
- Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and shorten the close process
- Support implementation and optimization of accounting systems and reporting tools
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Accounting, or Finance required
- 2-4+ years of public accounting (Big 4 or national firm preferred) or equivalent technical accounting experience
- Strong foundation in U.S. GAAP and financial reporting
- Knowledge of film and television accounting, including content production, distribution economics, and related revenue and cost recognition principles, is preferred but not required.
- Advanced Excel proficiency and strong analytical capabilities
- Experienced with ERP systems (Sage Intacct experience a plus)
- Strong ability to analyze and interpret data
- Proactive, intellectually curious, and improvement-focused
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Willingness to work beyond normal business hours and on weekends when required

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $80,000 to $87,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. Total rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. Legendary Entertainment also provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, employee wellness programs, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, year-round paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, market demands and indicators, specific and unique skills or training, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City and California.
