About This Position
Supervise activities of employees assembling and packaging foam products. Lead, schedule and monitor work. May be responsible for multiple production and assembly areas.
This position reports to the Operations Manager.
Machine Center Supervision Responsibility: Laminator, Skiver, Saws, Bruno, Ttarp, Material Handling (Inbound/outbound materials, Scrap/Trash), Material Inventories.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Ensure OSHA and company safety procedures are communicated and followed.
• Work with Operations Manager to establish work schedules and communicate schedules and assignments to employees.
• Analyze work orders, travelers and project specifications to determine process, materials, machines, tooling and sequence of operation.
• Follow established quality guidelines and perform quality inspections on finished products.
• Recommend changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency and improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
• Ensure employees have proper tools and resources to complete assignments.
• Assist in the assembly of foam parts with adhesive, heat or mechanical methods using heat guns and other hand tools.
• Assist in the operating and maintaining machines used to cut and form foam products.
• Assist in packaging finished parts in cartons, or other designated containers, and properly identify with labels or designated methods as required.
• Analyze and resolve work problems and assist workers in solving work problems.
• Interpret company policies to assigned staff, and ensure adherence to all company, federal and state regulations.
• Suggest and implement activities to motivate and encourage the highest level of employee performance and morale.
• Manage employee performance, resolve concerns, participate in hiring, corrective action and employment decisions.
• Train and cross train employees in job responsibilities.
• Interface with other supervisors and staff to ensure seamless processes and clear communication between operational areas.
• Safely operate equipment used in the various production processes.
• Ensure all materials and equipment are organized, used and stored properly.
• Work safely without presenting any threat to self or others.
• Keep work area clean, organized and free from clutter, or any potential safety hazards.
• Perform additional duties as requested.
• Proactively seek out ways to help and support other areas outside of regular job responsibilities.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills required.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least five years’ manufacturing experience, preferably in assembly and machine operation.
• Two years’ experience leading others.
• Complete knowledge of manufacturing processes and requirements, with clear understanding and ability to perform each function under supervision.
• Ability to read and understand sales orders and work instructions.
• Ability to utilize measuring devices.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Basic math skills and ability to perform calculations.
• Ability to investigate and resolve production or equipment problems.
• Good judgment and ability to work with others at all levels.
• Experience operating a standard forklift, and ability to obtain forklift certification.
• Demonstrates a team mentality.
• Good time management skills.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and respectfully with company employees, vendors, contractors, and management.
• Flexibility with work hours
• Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with production deadlines.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work in various positions; bending, stooping, standing, and the ability to have coordinated movements of pulling, pushing, grasping, reaching, and bilateral arm movements.
