Brief Job Overview/Summary

The EOF program is designed to meet the educational and financial needs of students who are capable and motivated. However, they may lack adequate preparation and/or the financial means for college.

Students admitted into Stockton University as EOF first-time, first-year students must successfully complete the EOF Summer Academy before they can enroll at the university. Stockton University houses two EOF programs: the Galloway EOF Program and the Atlantic City EOF Program. The EOF Summer Academy runs from June 28th through July 23rd on the Galloway campus and is designed to develop the skills, character, and discipline needed for success at Stockton. This rigorous program is designed to help students develop their foundation in college-level reading, writing, and mathematics. Additionally, students are equipped with knowledge, information, and resources to help them transition academically and socially to Stockton University.

Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

The Peer Mentor position is a 5-week mandatory-live on position from June 22nd - July 24th, which includes one week of training. Peer Mentors will be led by the Residential Coordinators and report directly to their assigned Student Success Coaches.

• Reside on campus for the five-week duration of the program (1 staff training week and 4-week academy).
• Identify and refer students of concerns to the Residential Coordinator and assigned supervisor. Complete any and all necessary reporting procedures concerning student behavior and well-being.
• Ensure scholars are present and accounted for, overseeing program events and activities.
• Serve as a Stockton Resource Guide to assist students with transitioning to college
• Serve as a housing floor leader, assisting in roommate and conflict mediations, leading floor meetings, enforcing and upholding the Student Code of Conduct and Residential Life regulations and expectations.
• Conduct nightly room checks at curfew
• Create and facilitate at least one workshop in areas that promote holistic student success.
• Conduct weekly check-ins with each student assigned to their floor, and complete meeting logs after each student meeting.
• Complete daily check ins with Residential Coordinators
• Assist with move in and move out for the academy as well as check in and check out procedures for home weekends.
• Promote a strong sense of belonging by maintaining a high level of visibility and interacting with students when possible.

Training, June 22-26th: 9:00am-4:30pm
EOF Activity Day, June 30th: 1:30pm-6:00pm
Program Duration: June 28- July 22nd - M-F 1:00pm-9:00pm, weekends shifts varies
Mandatory Debrief day Friday, July 24th: 9:00am-3:00pm

Required Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled at Stockton University
• Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience advising, mentoring, coaching, or teaching at-risk students
• Knowledge & Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite & Google Suite
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, technological, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff
• Understanding of the mission and goals of the Educational Opportunity Fund Program
