About This Position

Northern Improvement is looking for a skilled Loader Operator with experience feeding plants. The Loader Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the loader while feeding the concrete plant and performing other duties around the plant yard. The Loader Operator may be required to operate other pieces of equipment depending on previous experience and skills.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Operate the loader to feed the concrete plant
  • Operate the loader and other pieces of equipment for the purpose of maintenance around the plant and plant yard
  • Assist with plant setup and teardown
  • Operate construction equipment following company procedures and safety regulations
  • Check all fluid levels daily and perform daily walk-around inspection, including greasing as necessary, when operating equipment
  • Operate the equipment in the right direction and angles to prevent accidents and damage to property
  • Use various pieces of equipment to perform fine grading and finishing, sloping, and banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating, and stockpiling
  • Operate equipment in various situations, maintaining proper awareness of one’s surroundings
  • Report needs for large repairs to appropriate parties
  • All other duties as assigned, delegated, or necessary for operations

Qualifications

  • Two years of operating construction equipment preferred
  • Experience operating multiple pieces of construction equipment is preferred
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment urine drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment

Working conditions

  • Outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures
  • Occasional exposures to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises.
  • May be required to work 60+ hours, 6 days a week.

Physical requirements

  • Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner.
  • Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments.
  • Standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment.
  • Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.
  • Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds
