About This Position
The Manager of Logistics and Materials Distribution is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and performance of logistics, warehouse operations, and materials distribution activities across DSC. This position ensures the efficient receipt, storage, control, movement, and distribution of materials in support of production schedules, operational priorities, and financial objectives. The role establishes standardized processes, drives operational accountability across multiple locations, and ensures material availability while optimizing inventory accuracy, labor utilization, and freight performance.
This role requires a results driven leader with strong operational, analytical, and cross functional coordination skills. The Manager of Logistics and Materials Distribution balances strategic planning with hands on execution and demonstrates a continuous improvement mindset. The role partners closely with Production, Operations, Procurement, Engineering, and Finance to support organizational objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership and oversight of all warehouses, logistics, and materials distribution operations across DSC locations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain standardized operating procedures for receiving, storage, picking, kitting, staging, and material issuance.
- Oversee inbound and outbound logistics activities including carrier coordination, routing, scheduling, and delivery performance monitoring.
- Optimize freight spending and transportation performance through effective carrier management and process improvement initiatives.
- Establish and maintain inventory control processes including cycle counting, reconciliation, and accurate monitoring.
- Develop and manage inventory policies including min max levels, safety stock, and replenishment strategies to ensure material availability.
- Partner with Procurement and Operations to align material flow with production schedules and project requirements.
- Lead warehouse personnel including staffing, scheduling, training, performance management, and productivity oversight.
- Identify and implement process improvements to reduce overtime, material handling errors, and operational inefficiencies.
- Develop, monitor, and report key performance indicators related to inventory accuracy, inventory turns, on time delivery, freight cost, and warehouse productivity.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
- Support audit readiness and maintain appropriate documentation and record retention standards.
- Monitor supplier performance and track open orders to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Perform root cause analysis on late deliveries and implement corrective actions with suppliers.
- Maintain and report KPIs related to supplier performance, delivery accuracy, and lead time adherence.
- Manage vendor returns and discrepancies through return merchandise authorizations (RMAs) in collaboration with Accounts Payable.
- Provide administrative support for the Front Office on an as-needed basis.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
COMPLEXITY OF WORK: Semi-routine; majority of work covered by established procedures.
RELATIONSHIPS OUTSIDE WORK UNIT: Exchange of information which occasionally requires tact and/or diplomacy.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school degree or GED, bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Seven to ten years of progressive experience in materials management, logistics, or supply chain operations. Demonstrated experience managing warehouse operations and inventory in a manufacturing or project-based environment. Strong knowledge of ERP systems, inventory management tools, and logistics reporting. Proven ability to lead teams, manage change, and collaborate across functions.
CERTIFICATES ON-THE-JOB TRAINING:
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
