SUNY Maritime College invites applications for a Lecturer of Mathematics to teach courses at the Calculus II level and below, with the possibility of leading recitation sessions. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to undergraduate education, effective teaching strategies, and the ability to support students in foundational mathematics courses.
Responsibilities include delivering lectures, conducting assessments, holding office hours, and potentially facilitating recitation sessions to reinforce key concepts. Typical students are majoring in engineering, marine transportation, marine environmental science, data science and machine learning, international transportation and trade, or maritime studies, with the majority simultaneously pursuing a U.S. Coast Guard license.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach courses in mathematics at the undergraduate level
- Maintain office hours for assisting students
- Contribute to curriculum assessment
- Participate in department meetings
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Mathematics
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience teaching mathematics courses (pre-calculus, calculus, and/or statistics) classes at the college level
Additional Information:
Classification: The Lecturer 10 Months is tenure trach UUP position. The anticipated salary will be $75,000.00 to $79,000.00 inclusive of an outstanding benefits package (for more information, please see the UUP-FT-Benefits-at-a-Glance.pdf). Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Review of applications will commence immediately and conclude when the position is filled.
Special Notes: Fair Labor Standard Acts (FLSA) Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external searches to occur simultaneously.
