About This Position

Description:

Location: This position will be based out of either one of our offices in Emmetsburg, Iowa or Osceola, Iowa.

Position Summary: This position supports veterinary and live production teams by managing standard operating procedures, diagnostic workflows, health documentation, reporting, and system-wide compliance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with data, labs, and multiple production teams.

Objective: To serve in a supporting role for the System Veterinarian and Live Production

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage diagnostic laboratory submissions, testing requests, clearance testing, and result summaries; coordinate additional sequencing or follow-up testing as needed.
  • Maintain and update herd health statuses in data systems (e.g., PorkView), ensuring accuracy, corrections, and timely communication of health information.
  • Review and summarize diagnostic results and provide timely feedback to veterinary and production teams.
  • Coordinate diagnostic testing activities including sample processing, truck wash testing, and PRRS/PED clearance testing.
  • Prepare and manage required documentation including health papers, commuter agreements, and Veterinary Feed Directive (VFD) or prescription records while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Support health investigations by collecting and analyzing information from feed, transportation, maintenance, and production teams and preparing investigation summaries for leadership.
  • Participate in data collection and organization of herd health research, surveillance programs, and community health initiatives.
  • Monitor boar stud testing programs, semen quality assurance processes, and related training compliance.
  • Analyze testing and veterinary-related costs and assist in identifying opportunities for improved efficiency and system clarity in health-related processes.
  • Manage platforms, standardize, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across departments and support training documentation and compliance tracking.
  • Assist departments with audit preparedness and track compliance with SOPs and health-related protocols.
  • Create, analyze, and distribute reports related to health status, mortality trends, audit results, and production performance impacts.
  • Support updates to production health guidelines and wean-to-finish protocols through data collection, analysis, and communication with operational teams.
  • Provide presentation support, meeting documentation, and summary notes for veterinary and production leadership discussions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of health management systems, reporting tools, and operational processes.
Requirements:

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage detailed data and documentation.
  • Proficiency with digital record systems or willingness to learn.

Experience:

  • Experience in animal health, veterinary support, or livestock production preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Working Conditions: This position is full-time and generally works Monday through Friday in an office environment, with on-call for evening and weekends as needed remotely.
