Overview
Essential Functions:
Functions primarily as a clinical consultant and provides direct patient care and education to highly complex patients and provides staff educational programs in areas of expertise. This includes utilization of clinical expertise to provide care, counseling, and teaching to patients in need of wound, ostomy, and/or continence management. This role utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide, delegate, supervise, and document care and teaching of patients and family.
Qualifications:
The following qualifications are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this position:
Education:
- BSN required; Master of Science in Nursing preferred
- Completion of a WOCN Society-accredited educational program in wound management and/or certification by the WOCNCB in wound care (i.e., certified wound, ostomy, and continence nurse [CWOCN]; certified wound care nurse [CWCN]; certified wound and ostomy nurse [CWON]) within two (2) years preferred.
Experience:
- Three (3) to five (5) years of current clinical medical/surgical nursing required
Additional Requirements:
- Current North Carolina RN license or RN multi-state licensure privilege through the Nurse Licensure Compact required.
- BCLS
Recommended Skills:
- Experience with EPIC EMR documentation system.
