Job Description

Software Engineer, Device Hardware

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Software Engineer, Device Hardware in United States.

This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, hardware validation, and manufacturing systems, ensuring that complex physical devices are reliably tested and production-ready at scale. You will build and maintain the software tools that power factory validation, acting as a critical link between product design and real-world device performance. Working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, you will help eliminate production friction points before they reach customers. Your work will directly impact manufacturing stability, product quality, and delivery speed. This is a highly collaborative role involving engineering, operations, and hardware teams across the organization. You will design automation systems that make testing faster, smarter, and more scalable. It’s a hands-on position ideal for engineers who enjoy solving real-world hardware-software challenges.

Accountabilities:
  • Develop and maintain Python-based frameworks that power device testing, validation, and factory automation workflows across production environments.
  • Build automation scripts integrating with Android systems, Qualcomm processors, and microcontroller-based hardware to validate device functionality.
  • Design and execute test suites using Python and Bash to ensure hardware reliability, performance, and production readiness.
  • Implement monitoring and real-time observability systems (e.g., Datadog) to track production health and identify failures early.
  • Debug and validate devices in lab environments using engineering tools and hardware equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Manage validation data pipelines using PostgreSQL and AWS infrastructure to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams to improve test coverage, automation, and production efficiency.
  • Design and refine testing protocols and timelines to support smooth transition from prototype to mass production.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering, test automation, hardware validation, or related technical roles.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and experience building automation or testing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, hardware interfaces, or device-level debugging (Android, microcontrollers, or similar).
  • Experience working with data systems such as PostgreSQL and cloud environments such as AWS.
  • Understanding of monitoring tools and production observability platforms (e.g., Datadog or equivalent).
  • Ability to work with hardware testing equipment and interpret technical signals or performance outputs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues across software and hardware layers.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills in cross-functional engineering environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience preferred.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary range: $142,000 – $170,000 plus equity options
  • Fully covered medical, dental, and vision insurance with HSA support
  • Flexible PTO and 11 paid company holidays
  • Paid parental leave (up to 12 weeks fully paid, with additional recovery time for birthing parents)
  • Remote flexibility with optional access to major US engineering hubs
  • Monthly work-from-home stipend and annual home office setup support
  • Mental health, family planning, and caregiver support programs
  • Retirement savings plan with company participation
  • Learning, development, and wellness stipends.
