About This Position
POSITION SUMMARY:
Tahoma Global Logistics (TGL) is seeking qualified candidates for our Heavy Equipment Mechanic positions. This role is critical to maintaining the performance, reliability, and safety of heavy machinery and company owned equipment. An ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrains, and other critical components. This position requires a strong mechanical background, problem-solving ability, and the versatility to service a variety of equipment in a fast-paced environment. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will perform inspections, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel trucks, trailers, and heavy-duty off-road equipment. Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical systems, conducting repairs with precision, documenting work performed, and ensuring all equipment is in safe, working condition. This is a hands-on role that requires working both in the shop and outdoors in a yard environment, often under challenging weather conditions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Excellent attendance
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, electrical/electronic systems, drivetrains and body repair
- Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections of critical components
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Perform quality control inspections to ensure all equipment, repairs, documentation, and yard operations meet company standards, safety regulations, and operational requirements prior to dispatch or release
- Perform assembly work, including attaching buckets, hydraulic couplers, and forks & carriages
- Troubleshoot and repair air conditioning systems, suspensions, brakes, and steering systems, including removing rust
- Read and interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, schematics, and diagnostic codes
- Utilize diagnostic software, test equipment, and precision measuring tools to identify and resolve mechanical issues
- Complete all work orders, inspection reports, and documentation accurately and in a timely manner
- Assist with mentoring and training
- Maintain accountability for company-owned tools and equipment
- Perform additional duties/projects as assigned
- Contribute, when possible, for improvements regarding safety, quality, delivery, and cost through continuous improvement methods identify potential areas of risk, and promptly share critical business information with key stakeholders to maximize results throughout TGL
- Establish and maintain effective business relationships with all employees, vendors, business partners, government/regulatory entities, and communities in which we operate
- Strictly enforce workplace safety measures; safeguard the welfare of all employees, guests, visitors, and business partners at all times; promptly report workplace risks, incidents, injuries, and near misses; consistently wear and utilize all required PPE
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all sensitive and proprietary business information and safeguard TGL assets at all times
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum
- Must be 18 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license, good driving record, valid insurance and reliable transportation
- 2+ years of experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- 2+ years of experience with diagnostic tools and software
- Proven experience with troubleshooting, diagnostics, and mechanical and technical repair problems
- Competence in reading schematics, prints, service manuals and SOP's
- Knowledge of welding and fabrication practices
- Proficiency with tape measures, hand, electric and air-powered tools and varying shop equipment
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English, with clarity and legibility in all written work
- Positive, respectful and professional attitude with strong interpersonal skills; able to work collaboratively in a team-focused environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in assigned tasks
- Ability to follow instructions, take initiative, and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic and fast paced environment
- Ability to work independently and make real-time decisions to support operational goals
- PC proficient and able to use mobile apps for data entry and inspection documentation
- Culturally sensitive and works well with the full diversity of our company and community
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment, exposed to various weather conditions
- Ability to transport self over multi acre work site of varied terrain and climb in/out of equipment
- Ability to occasionally work non-standard hours to accommodate business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to pass background check
Preferred
- Technical training or certification in Diesel/Heavy Equipment Service Technology
- 3+ years of experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- 3+ years of experience with diagnostic tools and software
- Experience with inventory management systems
- Able to provide / utilize own tools

PTE formed Tahoma Global Logistics in December 2022 to leverage Tribal properties in the heart of the Port of Tacoma, WA for logistics operations. Located within the Heavy Cargo corridor of the Tacoma port, we are ready to support any and all of your outdoor storage requirements. We provide drayage services, regional trucking, and transloading of project cargoes from trailer to flatrack, including blocking, bracing, and export packing.
