About This Position
The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting the integrity and efficiency of the organizations financial operations. This position is responsible for overseeing expense and payables-related processes, including administration of Concur, ensuring accurate financial reporting within the general ledger, and maintaining balance sheet integrity. The Staff Accountant will also support audit and tax preparation activities while partnering closely with the Director of Accounting and Senior Director of Finance to strengthen internal controls and streamline processes.
Note: This position is considered Hybrid and will need to commute to ACOG's office located in Washington, D.C.
Expense & Concur Administration- Serve as the primary administrator for Concur, including system maintenance, user support, and configuration updates
- Oversee expense reporting processes to ensure compliance with organizational policies
- Partner with staff and stakeholders to provide guidance, training, and troubleshooting related to Concur and travel/expense submissions
- Monitor workflows to ensure timely approvals and processing
- Oversee the financial impact of accounts payable transactions on the general ledger, ensuring accurate coding and posting
- Review payables activity to ensure completeness, accuracy, and proper period recognition
- Partner with Accounts Payable to strengthen processes, improve efficiency, and maintain strong internal controls
- Ensure all travel and expense transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled in the general ledger
- Review and reconcile corporate card and travel-related accounts on a regular basis
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for all assigned accounts
- Investigate and resolve variances, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution
- Support continuous improvement of reconciliation processes and documentation standards
- Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and support external audit requests
- Support the preparation of IRS Form 990 and related filings
- Ensure documentation and processes align with audit and compliance requirements
- Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes, reporting accuracy, and internal controls
- Support implementation of best practices across accounting operations
- Partner with Finance leadership on system improvements and process standardization
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Advanced understanding of clerical procedures and systems such as reporting, recordkeeping, and filing.
- Ability to work independently
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or other related software
- Team player with a positive attitude and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelors degree in accounting or business-related discipline.
- 3 years of relevant work experience.
