This is a highly specialized role for a tax professional who thrives at the intersection of compliance, operations, and data governance. You will take ownership of multi-state tax allocation processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance across payroll and equity compensation activities. Working in a complex, publicly traded environment, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate tax regulations into scalable operational processes. - Oversee and manage multi-state tax sourcing and allocation methodologies for employee wages and equity compensation.
- Apply state-specific tax rules related to residency, mobility, and compensation structures to ensure accurate income allocation.
- Partner with payroll teams to validate and certify tax data prior to payroll processing and ensure proper system integration.
- Collaborate with equity administration to interpret tax implications of grants, vesting, and employee transactions.
- Act as the central authority for tax data governance, maintaining accurate and reliable data flows across systems.
- Design, implement, and maintain SOX-compliant controls, documentation, and audit processes.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and ensuring compliance standards are met.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field.
- 6–10+ years of experience in state and local taxation (SALT), payroll tax, or equity compensation taxation.
- Strong expertise in multi-state wage sourcing rules and equity-related tax regulations.
- Experience working in a publicly traded company or within a Big 4 or large multinational environment.
- Familiarity with SOX compliance, audit processes, and internal controls.
- Ability to translate complex tax regulations into operational workflows and system requirements.
- Strong analytical, data reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across finance, HR, and payroll teams.
