Electric Boat’sSoftware Engineering Group(SEG)isseekinga highly motivated, junior software developers to join a team of like-minded people pushing the boundaries of available applications for submarine design,manufacturingand construction.Frominitialconcept design through implementation, you will be working with product stakeholders,designersand engineers from various disciplines to define the best practical application to suit the needs of the customer/end-user as well as be innovative,impactfuland cost beneficial to the company and other organizations alike.You will grow your skills, work with thecutting-edgetechnologiesand introduce new tools and techniques to the team.There are plenty of opportunities for leadership growth as well.You will work in an environment that encourages creative thinking and novel solutions to continuously challenging problems.You will be creating software applications that make our company work effectively and efficiently at what we do – which is designing and constructing the world’s finest submarines for the United StatesNavy.
The core responsibilities include:
- Work with end users and the development teams to define,planand build complexapplications(typically using Java and Javascript/Typescript).
- Translation of the requirements, UI/UX designs and high-fidelity prototypesto produce visual elements of the applicationand desired behavior.
- Writing well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices.
- Promoting strict code peer review practices as well as testing and validation to ensure high-quality coding standards.
- Maintenance of software applications throughout the lifecycle of the product
- Provide mentorship to junior team members
- Share new ideas/techniques across different development teams

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering 5+ years of post-graduate hands-on experience developing java applications and/or responsive web applications
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Level Security Clearance
Preferred:
- Experience developing applications with Oracle/SQL databases using programming languages such as Java, JavaScript/Typescript, and React
- Experience or knowledge of Agile development methodologies
- A solid understanding of how applications work including security, session management, and best development practices
- Experience in DevOps CI/CD pipelines is advantageous
- Experience with automated testing, e.g. Selenium, jUnit.
