Position Overview
The Kennel Manager at Wags East Pet Resort & Spa plays a key role in creating a safe, organized, and positive environment for both pets and team members. This position leads the day-to-day kennel operations by guiding staff, coordinating daily workflow, and ensuring consistent care, cleanliness, and safety standards are upheld. The Kennel Manager supports team development, helps maintain a well-run stocked facility, and stays attentive to the overall wellbeing of pets in our care. This role also contributes to a smooth client experience by supporting communication around boarding stays. It’s a hands-on leadership position that helps keep the kennel running efficiently while fostering a supportive and team-oriented atmosphere.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Ensure all pets receive proper daily care (feeding, cleaning, exercise, monitoring health); monitor for signs of illness, injury, or stress and report concerns promptly; maintain safe handling practices for all animals and ensure vaccination and boarding requirements are followed
- Supervise and support kennel staff in daily responsibilities; train new team members on protocols and expectations; delegate tasks and ensure completion and address performance concerns and provide coaching
- Oversee kennel flow including check-ins, boarding assignments, and capacity; ensure proper scheduling and staffing coverage; maintain organization of kennel areas and supplies and assist team as needed to support daily workload
- Enforce cleaning and sanitation protocols; ensure kennels, play areas, and common spaces are clean and odor-free and monitor equipment and facility needs; report maintenance issues
- Monitor inventory levels of food, cleaning supplies, and kennel materials; communicate ordering needs to leadership and ensure proper use and storage of supplies
- Ensure team adherence to protocols and procedures and maintain accurate records as required
Education and Experience
- Veterinary or Pet Resort experience preferred
