JOB SUMMARY

The Pharmacist Account Manager serves as the primary liaison between the organization and its pharmacy clients. This role combines clinical pharmacy expertise with relationship management, ensuring optimal medication-related outcomes, contract performance, and client satisfaction. The Account Manager works closely with internal clinical, operational, and sales teams to deliver tailored pharmacy solutions and drive long-term partnerships.

Requirements:

DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES

  • Serve as the main point of contact for assigned pharmacy, healthcare, or payer accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
  • Conduct regular business reviews, performance updates, and strategic planning sessions.
  • Address client concerns and escalate issues as needed to ensure timely resolution.
  • Provide clinical pharmacy expertise related to medication therapy management, formulary optimization, and drug utilization.
  • Support implementation of pharmacy programs, clinical initiatives, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Interpreting and communicating clinical data, outcomes, and pharmacy metrics to clients.
  • Ensure contract compliance, service level adherence, and accurate execution of pharmacy services.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to support onboarding, renewals, and expansions.
  • Monitor KPIs, utilization trends, and financial performance.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance service offerings and expand existing accounts.
  • Support sales efforts through clinical insights, presentations, and proposal development.
  • Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and payer/pharmacy landscape.
  • Work cross-functionally with clinical, operations, IT, finance, and sales teams
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Document account activities and maintain accurate CRM records

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong clinical pharmacy knowledge and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management abilities
  • Ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable recommendations
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities
  • Strategic thinking with a client-focused mindset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and CRM systems
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required.
  • Active pharmacist license in good standing (state-specific requirements apply).
  • Minimum of 3 years of pharmacy experience (managed care, PBM, specialty, clinical, or retail pharmacy preferred).
  • Prior experience in account management, client services, or healthcare consulting preferred.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy operations, reimbursement models, and regulatory requirements preferred.
