This role is a strategic communications leadership position focused on elevating the profile and impact of a global research organization. The Corporate Affairs Director, Research will develop and execute communication strategies that highlight scientific innovation, foster internal engagement, and shape external perception among key stakeholders, including media, investors, and the broader scientific community. The role requires close collaboration with senior research leaders to craft compelling narratives around transformative discoveries and emerging technologies. This position combines scientific literacy with communications expertise to translate complex research into clear, persuasive messaging. It offers a highly visible platform to influence the organization’s reputation and advance its mission to accelerate breakthroughs in patient care.
- Develop and implement strategic communication plans to effectively showcase research innovation to internal and external audiences
- Advise and prepare senior research leaders for public and media engagements, including presentations and media interviews
- Partner with media relations teams to generate press coverage and proactively manage inquiries from the scientific and trade press
- Collaborate with therapeutic area leads and product communications teams to align messaging and positioning
- Manage external agency partners to maximize reach and impact of communications campaigns
- Drive internal engagement by working with HR and research leadership on employee communications
- Support investor relations by ensuring consistency and clarity of messages to financial and other external stakeholders
Requirements:
- Doctorate degree with 4+ years of communications/public relations experience, OR Master’s degree with 7+ years, OR Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years
- Strong background in public relations, communications, or journalism; biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare experience preferred
- Hands-on experience in scientific or research communications highly desirable
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills, with strong media relations and storytelling capabilities
- Strategic thinker with ability to create actionable programs aligned with organizational objectives
- Comfortable navigating dynamic, fast-paced environments with shifting priorities
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate across all levels of management, including leading staff and vendors
