SEACORP is seeking a well-qualified Systems Engineer III.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Job Summary: SEACORP's Tactical Solutions Business Area is seeking a proactiveand highly skilled Systems Engineer to serve as a critical link between ourengineering teams, program leadership, and operational stakeholders. The idealcandidate will be a self-starter who can navigate complex technical environments,translate engineering details into strategic insights, and ensure that systemdevelopment aligns with the "big picture" of undersea warfaremissions. This role requires a unique blend of technical acumen, strategicthinking, and exceptional communication skills to guide requirements and managemultifaceted projects with minimal direction.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Serve as a technical liaison between software/systems engineers, subcontractors, and program leadership.
- Attend and actively participate in technical meetings to comprehend, critically evaluate, and report on engineering discussions.
- Translate complex technical concepts and program status updates into clear, concise summaries and briefings for non-technical stakeholders.
- Assist in the development, analysis, and refinement of system requirements to ensure they meet both technical and operational objectives.
- Operate with a high degree of autonomy, proactively identifying risks, anticipating challenges, and driving solutions to keep the program on track.
- Synthesize technical and programmatic information to support strategic decision-making and provide leadership with a clear understanding of project progress and direction.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline.
Experience: 7 years of relevant experience.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Technical Foundation: A solid foundational understanding of computer science principles and systems engineering concepts (including integration, testing, and technology lifecycle management).
- Modern Software Knowledge: Familiarity with modern software development concepts, including containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) environments.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to synthesize information, analyze technical trade-offs, and support data-driven decisions.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work effectively with diverse personalities across different organizations.
- Security Clearance: Must hold at least a Department of Defense (DoD) TOP SECRET Security Clearance.
Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Operational Experience (Highly Desired): Previous experience as a qualified Submarine Officer or senior enlisted (Submarine Qualified) is a significant plus, providing invaluable operational context.
- Subcontractor Management: Experience managing or coordinating with subcontractors, demonstrating the ability to drive progress and gather critical information effectively.
- Cybersecurity Knowledge: A working understanding of fundamental cybersecurity principles and concepts.
- Clearance Investigation: A current Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
As a requirement of employment, all SEACORP employees must hold U.S. Citizenship
Location: Newport, RI
Travel: Quarterly (approximately 4 times a year)
Clearance: Top Secret
Work Environment & Physical Demands: Office & Computer Laboratories - Sitting, standing, extended periods of time using a mouse and keyboard and viewing computer screens. Infrequent lifting of <40lbs. Movement between points within the same office or between buildings. Work is performed in generally consistent environmental conditions with some seasonality for temperature differences and lighting.
