Description: BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Assists the Nursing Department in the care of patients by preparing for and assisting with all aspects of cardiac monitoring. Essential function includes informing nurses and appropriate members of the health care team of important physiological and cardiac changes.
REPORTS TO- Nurse Manager
Supervisory Responsibilities: No
Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED
Degree: General
License/Certification Required: Active BLS within 90 days of hire
Minimum Work Experience: 6 months related experience or training preferred
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team
- Monitor physiological measurements.
- Responds immediately to alarms and reports dysrhythmias promptly to appropriate health care team member.
- Responsible for identification of patient arrhythmias, abnormalities or significant changes from baseline and reporting on the condition of patient to the appropriate health care team members.
- Maintains the telemetry log for each shift.
- Monitors nurse call system for staff assist and/or Code Blue and escalates communication as appropriate to appropriate health care team members.
- Retrieves or assists health care team members with analysis of stored physiological waveform recordings from monitoring software using knowledge of software application.
- Serves as a knowledgeable resource for multiple software applications of Philips Monitoring system, Care Event, Rauland, and current end-user notification product.
- Offers/provides assistance to others in navigating Philips Monitoring System, Care Event, and Rauland applications.
- Communicate appropriately and clearly to charge nurse, co-workers and physicians.
- Consults with appropriate clinical/nonclinical personnel to resolve issues.
- Actively contributes to community outreach and education
- Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
- Fosters mature professional relationships with fellow employees in a courteous, friendly, manner as measured by management observation and peer input.

- Heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling is required up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20-30 lbs frequently, and 10lbs constantly to move objects of up to 150 lbs. Sudden emergency situations have the potential for exposure to lifting or moving of up to 150 lbs. Frequent bending, walking, sitting squatting, reaching, and standing are required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
